Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies any result under its own rules. Houston County Court Docket does not retain or log those search terms on its systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be kept long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers may automatically record technical and usage details such as:
- The device's Internet Protocol address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them
- A referring website, when supplied
- The date and time of each request
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files stored on a device. They and analytics services help measure aggregate traffic, popular pages, and where visits end. Browser controls can block or remove cookies, although some website functions may then behave differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Operating, maintaining, and improving page performance
- Routing a submitted search to the selected partner
- Measuring which content is useful to visitors
- Finding and correcting technical faults
- Displaying advertising that may reflect user interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Houston County Court Docket does not host, maintain, compile, or sell a database of court dockets or personal case information. It publishes general directions to the Houston County Circuit Clerk, Alabama trial courts, municipal courts, and official case-access systems. Nothing collected about a visitor is assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted through a box is governed by that company's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each partner controls its retention, processing, and disclosure practices. Review those terms before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Houston County Circuit Clerk, Alabama trial-court portals, legal-aid resources, or private search services. Once a visitor follows an outside link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before sharing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own technology to measure activity across websites and tailor ads. Their systems, not Houston County Court Docket, perform that tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal information is not sold. Data may still be available to the following limited recipients:
- A search partner processing a query submitted to its tool
- An analytics provider measuring traffic and performance
- An advertising network serving ads on the website
- A government body or law-enforcement agency acting under valid legal process
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used for collected information. No internet service can promise absolute security, so loss, misuse, or unauthorized access cannot be ruled out.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Information identified as belonging to a minor will be removed when a valid request is received.
Your Data Rights
Applicable Alabama and federal privacy or consumer-protection laws may create rights concerning personal data. Court information is separately controlled by the Alabama Rules of Court-Record Privacy and Confidentiality, Rule of Judicial Administration 33 for AOC electronic data, and the public-writing right in Ala. Code ยง36-12-40. Those authorities do not make this private website a custodian of Houston County court records. Subject to applicable law, a person may:
- Request access to personal information held about that person
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Seek deletion where the law provides that right
- Opt out of qualifying forms of processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal duties change. A replacement becomes effective when posted with its updated effective date.
