Find Houston County Traffic Tickets

Houston County traffic tickets land in one of two places: District Court or the municipal court named on the citation. Figure out which court issued the ticket first. Everything else flows from that. The same split decides where the case number, plea, payment, and court records live. State cases run through the trial-court access system and the District Traffic division, while city tickets may sit with a local vendor or magistrate. Paying a ticket and contesting it are separate choices with different steps. Before you act, confirm the docket entry and any response deadline, since settings can move and some tickets demand an appearance.

Houston County Traffic Court Records

State traffic cases live with Houston County District Court Traffic. The division sits in Room 109 of the county courthouse. Call (334) 677-4870 to reach it directly. Tickets written inside Dothan, Taylor, Kinsey, Webb, Ashford, Cottonwood, or Gordon stay with those municipal courts. Your citation is the routing record: it names the issuing court and the appearance date.

Once you find the file, a Houston County traffic court record can show a lot. It may list the charge, the plea, settings and resets, and the disposition. Fines and costs, payment entries, and failure-to-appear or warrant events can appear too. A case action summary serves as an index to those events. It is not a substitute for a signed order or a certified copy. Get those from the court that holds the file.

Houston County Ticket Court Split

The agency and the location are useful clues. Still, the court printed on the ticket controls. A state citation may carry the TR division and route to District Traffic. A city citation stays in that city's court. It may never show up in an ordinary Houston County state-trial result. Appeal a municipal judgment in time. A fresh Circuit Court trial-de-novo record can follow.

Looking Up a Traffic Ticket

Begin with the citation number and court name. A state Houston County traffic ticket can be checked through paid Just One Look or Alacourt if you already subscribe. Call District Traffic when the docket entry is unclear. For a municipal citation, use the city's own lookup or payment link only if one is published. Sometimes you still need a phone call or counter visit. The ticket may not have posted, the number may be hard to read, or the paper citation may be long gone.

  1. Read the citation and identify the issuing court, citation number, and stated appearance date.
  2. Use the state portal for District Traffic or the official municipal search for a city ticket.
  3. Enter the exact citation or case number. Use a permitted name-based path only when the court offers one.
  4. Call District Traffic or the city magistrate if the result is missing, stale, or unclear.
  5. Ask for counter inspection or a copy from the same court if online detail is incomplete.

Houston County offers no county-wide free citation portal. The clerk does not promise a public terminal either, so call before making a trip just for one.

How to Find Your Traffic Court Date

The citation is the first place to find your Houston County traffic court date. Then check the case record for the newest setting, reset, notice, or order. A later order can replace the date printed earlier. If the two conflict, call the issuing court with the exact case number. The county has no general free anonymous daily calendar. A payment portal is not a full calendar.

Citation / Case NumberUse the exact printed value or the state TR case number.
CourtHouston District Traffic or the named municipal court.
Date & TimeThe current appearance, plea, trial, or other traffic setting.
LocationThe courthouse, municipal court, or other site stated by the issuing court.
StatusPending, paid, disposed, reset, or subject to a failure-to-appear event.

Asking for a continuance does not cancel the date. Only the court can grant a change, so confirm the new order or notice before you rely on it.

Houston County Dothan Ticket Deadline

Dothan Municipal Court has a strict mail rule. Mailed payments must be received, not merely postmarked, at least 24 hours before court. Online payments, debit or credit, cash, cashier's checks, and money orders are all accepted. Personal checks are not. Cards carry a 3.5% third-party service charge. Pretrial-diversion payments cannot be made online.

That timing rule makes the transaction date part of the case decision. Anyone cutting it close to the setting should contact Dothan Municipal Court. Do not assume a mailed or web payment will post in time. And paying online never turns an appearance-required citation into a payable one.

Pay or Contest a Ticket

Paying usually resolves a Houston County traffic ticket under the plea terms the court offers. Contesting means pleading not guilty and following that court's hearing or trial process. Some citations require an appearance. Those cannot be closed online. The county's municipal courts publish no clear driving-school or deferred options. Ask the municipal magistrate about eligibility before you pay.

Paying the TicketContesting the Ticket
Accepts the court's offered plea and disposition route.Enters a not-guilty plea and keeps the charge for court action.
Must meet the court's payment deadline and method rules.Must follow the citation date or the court's plea instructions.
May be online, by mail, or at the counter if that court permits.May require appearance or another method set by the issuing court.

Missed date: Failure to appear can lead to a warrant or capias, added costs, and new docket entries. Payment may not clear those events automatically, so contact the court.

Houston County Taylor Ticket Pleas

Taylor Municipal Court wants plea and payment in hand. The deadline is 24 hours before the court date, for payable citations. Accepted methods include cash, cashier's checks, money orders, and Court Solutions card payments. Personal checks are not accepted. A citation that requires an appearance must still be heard.

A not-guilty plea is entered on the date stated on the citation. Taylor handles guilty pleas first, and trials follow. So the local sequence runs: citation date, plea, then trial setting. Do not treat the original date as the trial. Check the court's own instructions.

Houston County Kinsey Ticket Payment

The Kinsey Municipal Court page links its ticket payment and driving-school channels.

Kinsey court payment links for Houston County traffic tickets

Kinsey splits these into separate steps. Searching, paying, and signing up for a program each take their own action. A payment screen is not the full Houston County traffic record.

Call Kinsey City Hall at (334) 793-5409 to confirm a payment went through. That matters most after a browser error. Never send a second payment. The first response may simply have lagged.

Traffic Court Record vs Driving Record

Two files exist here, and two offices keep them. The court case record sits with Houston District Traffic or the municipal clerk. The driving record belongs to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency under motor-vehicle law. Want a disposition copy? Ask the court that issued it. The state driving record comes from ALEA instead. A court lookup tells you which charge was filed, when it was set, and how the court resolved it.

Houston County Ashford Traffic Court

Ashford is a good example. The hearing site and the payment office are different places. City Court convenes at the Ashford Train Depot, 312 Midland Street, on the first Thursday of each month at 9:00 a.m. Your ticket's assigned date controls. That holds unless the court says otherwise. Payments and disposition-copy requests go through City Hall at 525 North Broadway Street.

For payment, Ashford takes cashier's checks, money orders, or nCourt. Personal checks are not accepted. The online channel handles eligible payments. The municipal clerk still holds the case record and any disposition copy.

Houston County Municipal Ticket Directory

The Alabama municipal payment directory includes local payment routes such as Rehobeth.

Alabama municipal directory for Houston County traffic ticket payments

A directory like this can help you spot a municipality's payment vendor. It is not a county docket, though, and it cannot establish your current court date or the full disposition.

The Town of Rehobeth site shows Town Hall at 221 Malvern Road, reachable at (334) 671-5829.

That civic contact page gives you a direct fallback. Use it to confirm how Rehobeth court operations work before trusting a vendor listing.

Houston County Traffic Appeals

Appeal is possible. A municipal or District criminal judgment can go to Circuit Court for a trial de novo, meaning a brand-new trial. Alabama Rule of Criminal Procedure 30.1 gives you 14 days to appeal. The appeal must be properly filed. Then the Circuit Clerk's record becomes the next stop in the Houston County traffic docket path. The city payment screen no longer applies.

The sequence is Municipal or District judgment → timely appeal → Houston County Circuit Court case → new trial proceedings. Because the period is short and procedure matters, obtain the judgment date and speak with the proper court about filing requirements. A vendor receipt alone does not establish an appeal.

Copies and Fees

Copy charges hinge on which court holds the file. Houston County posts no complete plain-copy or certification price on its official clerk pages. For a state case, call District Traffic at (334) 677-4870. For a city disposition, call the municipal clerk. Have the citation number ready. Know the exact document you need and whether it must be plain or certified. Then ask for a total.
